Researchers at Brookhaven National Laboratory and Stony Brook University in the United States have successfully transmitted quantum information over 13 miles of open air for the first time, extending the nation's longest quantum network beyond fiber optic cables. During nighttime tests, entangled photons were successfully distributed and measured, and researchers plan to expand the network with a 30-mile connection to Yale University and satellite links.
